New US Tariffs – What do UK exporters need to know?
/in PSP Blog, PSP News/by JoAs a freight forwarder supporting UK businesses across international supply chains, we at PSP Worldwide Logistics are closely monitoring the newly announced U.S. tariffs—and the ripple effects they’re already creating.
If you export goods to the United States, here’s what you need to know and how we can help you stay agile and informed.
What has changed?
The U.S. government has introduced a new 10% blanket tariff on all imported goods, effective 5 April 2025, with additional country-specific tariffs (including the UK) to follow on 9 April 2025.
These tariffs apply in addition to any existing duties—meaning your products could now face significantly higher costs on entry into the U.S.
The Freight Forwarding Impact
As your logistics partner, we want to highlight the key areas of impact and how we can support you:
1. Customs Declarations & Classification
Accurate commodity codes and product classification have never been more important. Misclassification could lead to unexpected tariff bills or shipment delays.
✅ We can assist in reviewing your HS codes to ensure compliance and optimise duties wherever possible.
2. Cost Forecasting & Landed Pricing
Tariff increases mean it’s essential to review your full landed cost to the U.S.—including duties, freight, insurance, and handling.
✅ Our team can provide updated quotes factoring in the new tariffs, so you’re not caught off guard.
3. Supply Chain Agility
Rising costs may prompt you to reconsider your shipping routes, Incoterms, or warehousing strategies.
✅ We can help you explore options like U.S.-based fulfilment, bonded warehousing, or alternative distribution hubs.
4. Delays & Border Congestion
With tariff changes, we often see short-term congestion at ports and customs clearances as regulations are enforced.
✅ Our customs and operations teams are ready to proactively manage clearances, paperwork, and potential delays on your behalf.
Our Advice to UK Exporters
PSP Worldwide Logistics Achieves ISO 14001 Certification: A Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
/in PSP News/by JoAt PSP Worldwide Logistics, we’ve always prided ourselves on delivering reliable, efficient, and innovative logistics solutions for businesses across the globe. Now, we are thrilled to announce a new milestone in our journey—our achievement of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) certification.
This certification reinforces our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, aligning with global standards that help businesses minimize their environmental impact. Here’s a closer look at what this means for PSP and how it benefits our clients, partners, and the planet.
What is ISO 14001 Certification?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognised standard that sets out criteria for an environmental management system. It provides a framework for organisations to effectively manage their environmental responsibilities. By achieving this certification, PSP Worldwide Logistics has demonstrated a systematic approach to reducing waste, managing resources efficiently, and continuously improving our environmental performance.
Why ISO 14001 Matters
The logistics industry plays a significant role in global trade, but it also has a notable environmental footprint. From carbon emissions to waste management, the industry faces increasing pressure to adopt greener practices. ISO 14001 helps organizations address these challenges through the implementation of environmental policies, regular monitoring, and continuous improvement.
At PSP, we believe that sustainability isn’t just an option—it’s a responsibility. By adopting the ISO 14001 framework, we ensure that our operations are aligned with best practices in environmental management. This helps us reduce our carbon footprint, conserve resources, and contribute to a more sustainable future for everyone.
How ISO 14001 Benefits Our Clients
For our clients, this certification brings several advantages. Partnering with a logistics provider that prioritizes environmental sustainability can help businesses enhance their green credentials, meet regulatory requirements, and appeal to environmentally conscious consumers. Whether you’re in need of air and sea freight, project shipping, or express courier services, you can trust that PSP is delivering these solutions with a commitment to minimising environmental impact.
Clients will also benefit from improved transparency and traceability in the supply chain. Our environmental management system ensures that every stage of the logistics process is carefully monitored and optimised for sustainability.
What This Means for PSP’s Future
Achieving ISO 14001 is just the beginning. We are dedicated to continuously improving our environmental performance and finding innovative ways to reduce our impact. From adopting greener transportation methods to improving waste management across our operations, we are committed to making sustainability a core part of everything we do.
In addition to ISO 14001, PSP Worldwide Logistics is also ISO 9001:2015 certified for our quality management systems. This dual certification reflects our dedication to providing top-tier logistics services while maintaining the highest environmental and quality standards.
Conclusion
At PSP Worldwide Logistics, we are proud to join the ranks of companies that are not only delivering exceptional service but also contributing to the protection of our planet. Our ISO 14001 certification is a testament to our ongoing commitment to sustainability, and we are excited to continue making positive environmental changes within the logistics industry.
We look forward to working with our clients and partners as we all move toward a more sustainable future, together.
